1) Who can join the Marcus Color Guard?
Ans: Any young lady aged entering freshman to incoming senior, who has an interest in dance, performance, and a positive, life-changing teamwork experience! Absolutely no prior dance or performance experience is required!
2) How do I join the Marcus Color Guard?
Ans: Interested girls are invited to take part in any of the many activities held throughout the spring to become involved with the Color Guard. 'Mini Camps' are held throughout the year to introduce basic dance and flag techniques and give girls the chance to work with members of the Marcus Color Guard and their instructors. A formal audition is held in late part of the spring, and 'audition clinics' are held prior to the formal audition to allow interested girls a chance to excel on new skills and to show-off their improvement throughout the process. Remember, many members of the guard had little or no dance experience before they came to one of our camps or clinics. These activities are truly designed to be an introduction to the Color Guard experience!
For more information on Mini Camp, Audition Clinic, or Audition dates, please visit the rest of our website or contact us with any additional questions!
3) When does the guard practice and perform?
Ans: During the fall the Color Guard follows virtually the same schedule as the marching band, as it is part of the marching band's fall production. The band and Color Guard perform at Marcus Varsity football games, and at marching band contest shows held in various places throughout the state. During the winter and spring months the guard follows its own rehearsal and performance schedule, and competes at designated Winter Guard shows!
4) Where can I find out more information about Color Guard?
Ans: Visit other areas of our website, visit some important guard organizations' sites- NTCA and WGI, or contact us for more info!
5) Why should I join the Marcus Color Guard??
Ans: Like any other extra-curricular activity, performing with the Color Guard requires hard work and dedication. Practicing and performing with the guard teaches girls the valuable life skills of focused effort, determined and persistent work toward a common goal, and high-level team work. But most of all... IT'S FUN!!! ...
Members of the Marcus Color Guard form friendships which last a lifetime. They become part of a tightly-knit group who look out for one another throughout their time in high school. They also know how to let loose and enjoy all kinds of fun, including group parties, fun bus trips, and tons of other priceless moments!
We hope to see YOU at our next event!
